All work and no knitting makes Sara a dull girl.

Pictures, pictures and pictures!

I've been working on a super secret project for the past few days... no pictures to show you of that (because it's super secret!), but one of the yarns I have fallen in love with.

Elann Highland Silk. Yum times 100. I've never used it before, but working with it is pure happiness... and the price can't be beat. I kind of wish I had discovered it before I bought all of the Highland Wool for my Ribby Cardi. Yes, they are different guages, but darn it, think of how pretty this yarn would be to wear!

Back in September I bought this

gorgeous angora blend yarn at the Commonground Fair and had made it into a dropped stitch scarf. It just didn't work for me, and it sat in a ziploc bag until I finally tackled unwraveling it last week. I'm thinking possibly a small lacy purse, but I am really up for suggestions. I don't have a huge amount, and I just can't see using it as a trim on something (since the yarn is just too beautiful to cut into pieces!).

Hooray! I'm almost finished with my Clapotis!

I had originally thought about alternating hanks of yarn to prevent so much pooling, but once I got started I realized that with this yarn, I *like* the pooling. I think it looks like someone has taken a paint brush and splattered paint all over it. This is one of the simplest patterns to do, but unlike the one I made for my mom which took only a week to complete, this one has been on the needles for months and months. It has become my work training project... so I only work on it for a few hours once a month while I am helping conduct the training for our agents. The director makes jokes about how well the agents understand the training by how much I get done in a day- if I accomplish quite a few rows, the agents understood things and didn't ask me a lot of questions. If I don't get much done, chances are good that the agents didn't understand what my boss was trying to tell them. Either way, I'm getting a little done. It also doesn't help that I chose to do 18 patterns repeats of the straight section instead of 12.

A FO!

I knitted this up with some Simply Soft on the plane ride from Portland, ME to Washington DC last month. The major change to the pattern for me was to only cast on 80 stitches. It's not the warmest thing (it *is* crappy acrylic), but it fits really nice and I like being able to keep my hair up and still have my ears covered. Especially considering how cold it is lately!

Wait...

What is that...

My gosh... it looks like a pile of green knitted yarn puke!

And there it is trying to crawl up Seth's recliner!

This can only mean one thing... I've caught a case of the ugly scarf disease!!

Pretty ugly, eh? Note to self: Don't ever try to knit a potato chip scarf out of acrylic baby yarn... even worse when you put a white border on it. Luckily, my best friend Cass is going to be giving it to her 2 year old daughter for her dress up box... and Ryleigh won't care that it is hideous.

I agree. The pooling in the clapotis is great. It reminds me of water falls. Good job!
